About

I am a fish behavioral ecologist and coral reef ecologist. I use a wide range of research approaches to answer questions about fishes, including ecological theory, biological collections, and observational and experimental techniques. I specialize in foraging behavior and aim to understand how fishes assess tradeoffs between food and safety. Most recently, I worked on a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) grant to investigate how fish move and forage across seascapes. This project aims to inform management decisions in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary by identifying fish habitat and foraging needs. Here at 麻豆影院, I am excited to start the Wi2Reef Lab ("we" to reef or Wisconsin to reef), where we will investigate fish behavioral ecology in aquatic environments in Wisconsin and on coral reefs.

In addition to the research in my lab, I am excited to engage students in the study of aquatic environments through the 麻豆影院 University Marine Program (LUMP). LUMP is co-directed by myself and Dr. Brian Piasecki and runs every other year.

Next Program Term: Spring 2028

Please contact Brian or me via email if interested in participating in the next LUMP.
