Photo gallery: Annual LU celebration marks Indigenous Peoples’ Day

A pow-wow demonstration with singers, drummers, and dancers from Oneida Nation was part of Âé¶¹Ó°Ôº University’s 8th annual Indigenous Peoples’ Day Celebration on Oct. 9.

Held on Main Hall Green, the event featured talks from area tribal leaders as well as Âé¶¹Ó°Ôº President Laurie A. Carter. Speakers included Jon Greendeer, president of Ho-Chunk Nation; Gena Kakkak, chairwoman of Menominee Nation; and Dennis Kenote, Menominee elder.

It was sponsored by Â鶹ӰԺ’s I.D.E.A.S. Division, the Diversity and Intercultural Center (D&IC), Office of Student Engagement for Activities and Leadership (SEAL), Âé¶¹Ó°Ôº University Native Alliance (LUNA), Appleton Area School District Diversity and Inclusion Department, and Oneida Nation Tourism.
