ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊ University honored staff members for exemplary work during a staff awards reception held Dec. 12 in Warch Campus Center.
President Laurie A. Carter and the Office of Human Resources presented multiple awards, led by the Presidentβs Award of Excellence β Individual, which went to Juan Arguello, ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊβs second-year dean.
Arguello, who arrived at ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊ in May 2023 in the newly created position, works to support sophomores and transfer students by connecting them with important resources throughout the year. He plays a vital role in retention efforts at ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊ.
βI really wanted to work in a job where I could advocate for people and listen to them,β Arguello said earlier of his move to ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊ. βAs a first-gen student, I didnβt have a lot of additional guidance and had to spend a lot of time on my own getting answers. I wanted to help students and help them accomplish their goals.β
